- The Story
- Both the text and the illustrations tell the story in this picture
book. The story is about a little girl who has a book about a dragon.
One day the dragon comes out of the book and swallows her entire
collection of toys. She keeps her cool, and by threatening to sit on the
book so that the dragon will have no place to go, forces the dragon to
"blow out" ll the things, including her stuffed dog. Then she lets the
dragon back in the book where it belongs. And the reader can see from
the picture that she ties the book up nd places it under a leg of her bed
to prevent the dragon from leaping out of the book again.
- Comments
- The dragon appears to be quite manancing with sharp teeth, a long red
tongue, green, mascular body that echoes the forms of classical dragons.
It has three small horns, sharp claws, and most of all, a pair of
glowing, greedy, slits of red eyes. This is a dragon that can conjure up
nightmares if not for the fact that it can be easily desposed of. It
should also be noted that it comes out from a storybook: that it is Not
Real.
